Mocha Smoothie

Sometimes we need a quick pick-me-up, but sometimes a regular hot coffee just wont do! So this here is a recipe that is still going to give you that quick caffeine hit, but also fill you up and keep you fueled for longer. You gotta give this a go! 

 3-4 Dates  1 Frozen Banana  ½ Teaspoon Vanilla Extract  1 Cup Almond Milk  1 Cup Black Coffee  2 Tablespoons Cacao Powder  ½ Cup Ice Cubes

Blitz all in a high powered blender for 15 seconds and pour into 2 large glasses.

Orange Almond Cake

This deliciously moist cake is gonna have you going back for seconds AND thirdsies!

Recipe is extremely simple to make and only has 5 ingredients. This is definately my go-to cake when I need a sweet treat, but seeing as it's still gluten, dairy and refined-sugar free, you don't have to feel guilty.

Here's the recipe, you HAVE to give this one a go!


2 Oranges
6 Eggs
2 ½ Cups Almond Flour
1 Cup Coconut Sugar
1 Teaspoon Baking Powder


Place oranges in a pot and cover with water, boil for 15 minutes until soft. Let the oranges cool then blitz in a processor for 30 seconds. Now add the eggs, almond flour, sugar and baking powder and blitz for another 30 seconds or until rel smooth and combined. Pour mix into a lined muffin tin or a greased silicone mould and bake at 180/350 for 20-25 or until a clean skewer comes out with poked.

Beetroot and Coconut Soup

It's heading towards winter here in New Zealand, so we are trying to keep warm while our Northern Hemisphere friends are starting to get warmer! This soup is for all seasons though..

Here's how to make it.


4 Beetroot
1 Large Brown Onion
1 Sweet Potato
1 Carrot
1/4 Teaspoon Dill or Thyme
1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
2 Cups Coconut Cream
2 Cups Stock (Chicken or Vegetable)
1/4 Teaspoon Salt and Pepper


In a pot, saute diced onion and carrot in olive oil until softened, about 5 minutes on a low heat. Add the dill and give it another 2 minutes. 
Add in the peeled and chopped beetroot and sweet potato. Pour in the stock, coconut cream and seasoning. Simmer for about an hour until the beetroot is fully cooked and soft. Blend until smooth and serve!

This soup doesn't only taste amazing, but it looks even better! Impress quests with this one!


Bliss Balls

Paleo Bliss Balls

This recipe is out of my book called 'On-The-Go Paleo' and is free gift to members of Paleo Revolution, but today i'm going to give you one of my favorite recipes from the book.

I live a pretty busy life, work, kids, basketball etc. So I really depend on these little gems to keep me going when I'm on the go! Just reach in to the fridge and grab one, or two 😉

Here is the recipe:


2 Cups Dates
1/2 Cup Raisins or Sultanas
2 Cups Nuts (any assortment, I like using cashews and walnuts)
1 Tablespoon Orange Zest
1 Teaspoon Grated Ginger 
Garnish (Roll in Coconut, Sesame seeds, cocao etc)


Place all ingredients into a food processor and blitz until completely combined. Roll 1 Tablespoon worth into a ball and coat with the garnish of your choice. Refrigerate to give them a nicer texture and thy will last longer too.

Paleo Beef Burger

Paleo Beef Burger...

I know right... A paleo burger with a REAL bun! Not a mushroom 'bun' or a lettuce 'bun'. A soft, fluffy warm bun.

Well that's what I got in delivered to my house yesterday. The amazing people at Thoroughbread sent me some of their Paleo Burger Buns. These are 100% paleo, being gluten, dairy, grain and refined sugar free. 

I still can't believe that I just ate this, but it happened.

They have an incredible range of bread, buns etc and they are all gluten free, with an increasing range of paleo products.  The bread is hand rolled and that attention to detail really comes out in their product. 

If you are not from NZ, USA for example, I highly recommend going to your local health food shop and inquiring about finding these. I will try whip up a recipe in the near future for you all to try at home though 🙂

The patties were very simple. 

300g Ground Beef
1 Small Brown Onion
1 Grated Carrot
1 Clove Garlic
1 Teaspoon Paprika
Salt And Pepper To Taste

Simply rolled into balls and flattened out into patties. Fry for 2 minutes each side and all done. A couple of fried eggs, some lettuce, tomato and  a side of some sweet potato (Kumara) chips and you have a classic combo, brought to the paleo world.

Kale… Chips?!

Kale chips are amazing! If you havn't already tried these crispy and salty bits of heaven, then please make these ASAP!

​Who would've thought that a healthy leaf like kale, could be made into something that rivals potato chips? Well here is the proof, and it's SUPER SIMPLE.

1 Bunch Kale
1 Tablespoon Olive or Coconut Oil
1 Teaspoon Salt Flakes

Tear the leaves from the stem and rip them into bite sized pieces and lay on a lined baking tray.
Drizzle over the oil and sprinkle on the salt.
Cook in the oven at 180C or 350F for around 10 minutes, or until crisp (slightly brown edges).

​Wait a minute while they cool down, then enjoy! You get a crunchy and salty snack but you get the goodness of kales high levels of iron, magnesium, potassium, vitamins A, C and K! 

Enjoy this one during your next movie night or even just as a mid-day snack. 🙂

5 Steps To Improve Gut Health

Here are Paleo Revolution's 5 Steps To Improve Your Gut Health

1. First things first, before you consider repairing your gut health, you need to remove what could be causing the damage.

Most people tend to have gut problems when eating Grains (Especially Gluten), Dairy, Soy & Peanuts. Processed food and food with high sugar levels can also irritate the gut. So start out by removing these irritants.

2. Up the good foods!​ Start replacing all the grains and legumes with real, wholesome food like vegetables, fruit and nuts. The nutritional influx will start working to repair your gut very quickly.

3. Sleep is critical. It is during sleep when your digestive system really kicks into gear, so if you are not giving it time to deal with your day's food, then you will wake up bloated or sore.

4. Exercise. If your body is being used, it will work better. Even a decent sized walk each day will make a huge improvement. It's not just the outside of your body that changes with exercise, it's the inside also.

5. Add in good bacteria. Probiotics are not only found in dairy products (As the industry might like you to believe). Try coconut yogurt, sauerkraut or there is a bunch of vegan probiotic supplements on the market. Try em out!

Gut health has a lot to do with our everyday health. It is the center of the body and it can affect other areas when it is not in working order. Take care of your gut and your gut will literally take care of you too. 

Vegetable Stock

Vegetable Stock

A vegetable stock is not only the most nutritious way to use your left over vegetables, but it is the most cost-effective and also the most delicious way! 

All of us at some point, whether we try our hardest or not, get to the end of the week and find some sad looking veges in the back of the fridge. Not exactly appetizing when looked at, but we feel regret for throwing them out, what a waste of food and money right? Well, with this recipe, it's as easy as throwing them all in a pot with some water!

Although the stock is jam packed full of nutrition already, one of the best ways to use this stock is to use it in another soup. An already healthy food source, SUPER-CHARGED!!

I would suggest that at home, you just use the scraps of your vegetables from throughout the week. Keep them in a zip-lock bag in the fridge, use things like carrot peelings and ends, onions (including the skin), celery etc. If you haven't got all these and just want to make one from scratch, here is a recipe that you can also use as a guideline when making a vege stock.​


  • ​4 Brown Onions
  • 4 Carrots
  • 4 Celery Stalks
  • 1 Garlic Bulb
  • Bunch of Fresh Parsley
  • 1 Lemon
  • 2 Bay Leaves
  • 12 Peppercorns


Simply add these ingredients into a large pot, wash but leave the skin on. Cover with water and simmer on a low heat for about 1 hour. Strain liquid and discard vegetables. Pour your liquid stock into jars, bags, ice cube trays, or whatever you find most useful. Will keep fine in the fridge for 1-2 weeks, so freeze if not using before that. ​

Banana Cinnamon Smoothie

Banana Cinnamon Smoothie

I'm sure most people love smoothies, and i'm sure most people love banana and cinnamon. It is a match made in Heaven. So here is a paleo recipe that is AMAZING for breakfast, this one really gets you in a good mood!


  • 1 Banana
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • ¼ Cup Almonds, Cashews orWalnuts
  • 1 Cup Almond or Coconut Milk
  • ½ Cup Water


Add everything to a high powered blender and serve as it is. Add a light sprinkle of cinnamon to the top if you reeeeally love cinnamon like me!

Sweet Chilli Sauce

Chilli Sauce

Sweet chilli sauce is a huge favorite of mine. unfortunately, most store bought sauces are jam packed with artificial sugars. Now we can have some sugar, but when its more than 50% of the product, and it's processed white sugar, it's a no no for paleo living. So I have here, a paleo chilli sauce recipe using only a bit of honey, so that you don't have to miss out! Try this with some grilled prawns and your taste buds will explode!


  • ¼ Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 Grated Garlic Clove
  • 1 Teaspoon Grated Ginger
  • 2 Tablespoons Honey
  • 1 Fresh Red Chilli
  • 1 Teaspoon Tapioca Flour
  • ¼ Teaspoon Salt and Pepper


Finely grate the ginger and garlic, then finely dice the chilli, remove seeds if you don’t want it too hot. Add these with the rest of the ingredients to a pot and bring to the boil while mixing, making sure the tapioca flour has combined. Simmer for 2-3 minutes or until desired thickness.
